2024 RLM Fellowship Request for Applications

Qualifications

RLM Fellowships are intended for exceptional scientists who have recently been awarded, or who are about to be awarded, the doctoral degree. Applicants cannot have had more than one year of postdoctoral experience from other institutions, nor been employed as an instructor, assistant professor, associate professor, or professor. Current employees, fellows, and students of Washington University in St. Louis are not eligible. Selected applicants must show eligibility for obtaining/holding a J-1 Scholar visa for the duration of the RLM Fellowship, if applicable. Applicants currently on H1B visas are not eligible. As of July 1, 2019, all postdoctoral appointments must pass a criminal background check.

Eligibility and Terms of Appointment

  • Fellows are required to work in the lab of a CRM faculty member on a project that directly focuses on regenerative medicine. This is a full time research position. A listing of faculty can be found here.
  • RLM Fellowships are granted for a period of two years. The Fellowship term is expected to begin no later than May following the year in which you applied.
  • Arrangements for terms of extended employment of the fellow in the lab at the end of the RLM fellowship will be made directly between the host PI and the fellow.
  • A doctoral degree such as a Ph.D./D.Sc./M.D. must be awarded, and proof furnished to the CRM before the start of the Fellowship.
  • As Dr. Rita Levi-Montalcini was herself an international scholar working at WUSTL, we strongly encourage international applicants to apply.

The RLM Fellowship provides annual compensation, as well as fringes and health insurance, relocation/travel funds, a signing bonus, and research funds as detailed below.

  • Fellows are expected to participate in the activities of the CRM, to acknowledge the CRM in publications and presentations, and to provide updates on progress.
